Flexible Conductive Adhesives for Flexible (In-Mold) Electronic Wearables & Thin Film Solar Cells (PDF)

When it comes to electronics, characteristics like bendability, flexibility, foldability and wearability become increasingly important. To produce functioning devices with those characteristics it is necessary that all device parts are flexible or bendable. The latest generation of electrically conductive adhesive systems are specially designed to meet the high requirements of the flexible electronic devices sector. These adhesives are particularly suitable for bonding with temperature-sensitive films or flexible PCB materials.

Electronic devices are becoming ever smaller and more powerful. This increases the heat their components generate and that needs to be dissipated as increased thermal load reduces the components' performance. An optimized heat management with heat-conductive adhesives helps protect the devices and increase their performance.

Do Wearables Hold the Key to the Adhesives Market?

Adhesives are critical components in the design and manufacture of the majority of medical devices. As medical devices become smaller and more complex, greater demands are being made on the materials and components used in them. Even more exciting are estimates that only about one-half of the applications that could be served by adhesives are actually using adhesives in assembly, leaving a significant growth opportunity.

A Smart Solution as Alternative for Soldering

Electrically conductive adhesives play a vital part in the electro- and electronics industries. These adhesives are the perfect choice for attaching and connecting electrical or electronic components.   In a growing number of applications, they are used as a more effective alternative to conventional soldering. Crucial for a successful application is not only the right choice of the adhesive, but also the right curing parameters.

Stick with it

UV curing acrylate adhesives have several advantages: They are easy to handle, can be quickly dispensed and if necessary, can also cure in seconds. In addition cured acrylates are compatible with common sterilisation processes such as autoclaving, gamma and ETO. Interestingly, in several tests electron beam sterilisation has even improved the adhesion.
